Barney Popnoe Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created in honor of Mr. Barney Popnoe, an educator, coach and mentor who passed away on November 3, 2013. The scholarship was established to continue Mr. Popnoe’s legacy of learning and higher education. Mr. Popnoe was passionate about learning. After graduating from Novice High School, he entered McMurry College at age 15 where he earned his BS degree in biology and history. He continued his graduate science education at Texas Tech and the University of New Mexico. He later received a MS degree in Guidance and Counseling from Howard Payne University graduating Summa Cum Laude. He continued his advanced science work at the University of Texas. Mr. Popnoe’s desire for knowledge never ceased.
